Addresses are assigned by the Roads Division of the Information Technology Services Department. In keeping with its large rural population, Pend Oreille County uses a branch system rather than the grid system used in more urban locales, each new branch representing a new road.

The numbering system is based on the 100th of a mile, the last digit representing the Left(Odd) or Right (Even) side of the road and the number itself representing the distance from the beginning of the road. For example, an address of 1121 would be located 1.12 miles from the beginning of the road, on the left.

Accurate addressing is important for many reasons but especially so in the event of an emergency. If you suspect your address may not be accurate, i.e., your address indicates you are living on the main (trunk) road but you actually live on a branch road, please contact us for an accuracy review.
