Meet Commissioner Karen Skoog

Karen Skoog, District 1

Karen was elected as District 1 County Commissioner in 2012 and is serving her second 4-year term. She grew up in a farming family where she learned to love agriculture and natural resources and was instilled with a strong work ethic.

She and her husband, John, homeschooled their 5 children and enjoyed teaching them entrepreneurship and leadership skills as well as taking many history and science road trips. They have been the owners of several businesses and have a family-run spray foam insulation and coating company.

Karen serves on the Parks Committee, Northeast Tri-County Health Board, Washington Counties Insurance Fund, Aging and Long Term Care, Easter Washington Council of Governments, and Public Lands Steering Committee with National Association of Counties.
