Meet Commissioner Karen Skoog

Karen Skoog, District 1

Karen was elected as District 1 County Commissioner in 2012 and is serving her second 4-year term. She is the Commissioner Chair for 2019. She grew up in a farming family where she learned to love agriculture and natural resources and was instilled with a strong work ethic.

She and her husband, John, homeschooled their 5 children and enjoyed teaching them entrepreneurship and leadership skills as well as taking many history and science road trips. They have been the owners of several businesses and have a family-run spray foam insulation and coating company.

Karen serves on the Parks Committee, Northeast Tri-County Health Board, Washington Counties Insurance Fund, Aging and Long Term Care, Eastern Washington Council of Governments, Washington Association of Counties Board of Directors, and Public Lands Steering Committee with National Association of Counties.
